Chessie 2015

Chesapeake Green 2015 – A Horticulture Symposium – February 19 and 20

Online registration is now open for Chesapeake Green 2015. Visit this link to register online today! View the full event brochure here, including registration information.

Chessie Green, as it is known within the industry, is a two-day event packed full of engaging and informative horticulture education.  The symposium will be held on February 19 and 20, 2015 at the same venue as the past eleven annual Chessie symposiums - the Maritime Institute and Conference Center in Linthicum.   Come for the great education and enjoy the networking, vendor showcase, and silent auction (to benefit scholarship).  The awesome lunch is yours to enjoy, too.

On Day 1, February 19th, Chris Beytes, editor of GrowerTalks/Green Profit, will be serving triple duty – presenting the keynote, “Acres Online Live!,” facilitating an industry panel discussing the pros and cons of neonics and how those decisions were arrived at, and presenting a plenary wrap-up session which addresses how to artfully and effectively “toot your own horn,” appropriately promoting yourself and your business.

Following Chris’ keynote, attendees will have the option of participating in any of six concurrent educational tracks, generally divided into nursery grower, greenhouse grower, landscape contractor, retail garden center, interiorscape, and management.

Interiorscape education is back after a few-year hiatus.  Management is a new track, and will be aimed at water quality and management issues, as well as DOT safety and compliance.

Return for Day 2 on February 20th for full ornamental horticulture pesticide recertification PLUS nutrient management certification and Maryland’s turf law applicator recertification.

  • Pesticide recertification credits have been applied for in the following states: DE, MD, PA, and VA.  Credits applied for include:
    • Maryland Department of Agriculture – Private Applicators, Commercial Applicators, 2, 3A, 3B, 3C, 6, 8, and 10
    • Virginia
    • Washington, DC - Categories 3A, 3B, and 3C
    • ISA
    • Maryland Certified Professional Horticulturist
